'From the Hallé to Daughter'
I am as happy with my violin in a concert hall, improvising or touring in a band. I studied at Chetham's School of Music, the Junior Royal Northern College of Music and the RNCM under the guidance of Leland Chen. I graduated with first class honours in 2015 after leading the UK premiere of Penderecki's 7th Symphony, conducted by the composer. Masterclasses include James Ehnes and Isabelle Van Heulen.
As a soloist I've given recitals at venues and festivals including Hovingham Hall, the House of Lords and Buckingham Palace; concerto highlights include The Lark Ascending at Bolton Abbey and Bruch's Violin Concerto at Preston Guildhall. In 2016 I completed a coveted place on the Halle's String Leadership Scheme and have enjoyed playing with them and many other UK orchestras and ensembles since.
My love of collaborative and chamber music has taken me around the world with various ensembles. I'm a violinist with the Florian and Calgary String Quartets, with whom I enjoy exploring the more interesting and unusual sides of chamber music-making - most recently including a Living Room Concert Series aimed at combating loneliness in cities.
I regularly and uniquely combine my skill-sets as a musician to bring both of my 'worlds' together and have enjoyed writing for and performing with world fusion, jazz and Americana bands over the past ten years as well as various crossover projects. Recent appearances with artists include Daughter, Public Service Broadcasting and Rae Morris.
