'From the Hallé to Daughter'

What makes Joy Becker so striking as a violinist is her ability to thrive equally in a concert hall, improvising or touring with a band. A graduate of Chetham's School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music, her eclectic career has established her firmly as one of the most versatile violinists around.

Joy's solo highlights include recitals at Hovingham Hall, the House of Lords and Buckingham Palace; James Ehnes described her playing as 'intriguingly beautiful'. Following her coveted place on the Halle Orchestra's String Leadership Scheme, Joy has enjoyed performing regularly with the Halle' and many other UK ensembles since.

As an in-demand collaborator and chamber musician Joy has been taken around the world. She is a violinist with the Florian and Calgary String Quartets, with whom she enjoys exploring the more unusual sides of chamber music-making - most recently including a  Living Room Concert Series aimed at combating loneliness in cities.

Joy often uniquely combines her skill-sets as a creative musician to bring all of her 'worlds' together, and has written and performed with world fusion, jazz and Americana bands over the span of her career. Recent sessions include Daughter, Lewis Capaldi, Public Service Broadcasting and Rae Morris.
